  1. How many UN Peacekeepers does it take to observe a lightbulb being screwed? Brrrm Chhh.

Methinks Mr Blue Helmet is doing “globally” what “Mr Green Helmet” is doing “locally”. That is, chasing ambulances for Photo Ops. UN resolutions may be required reading if you’re sporting a Forced Skullet with a gray rat tail, and a shit-brindle corderoy jacket with elbo patches. Professoriat be damned. For us plebian prols it’s a lot of hoowie. Really, Does anyone actually think, you can take some third world dregs give’em a few rupees and anything they can rape, put them under the comand of a Canuck and expect them to die observing for the rats nest they came from. What is “International Law” without any credible enforcement. Is there a ‘Tomb of the Unknown Observer’ at UN Headquarters?

  2. The UN today is as effective as the League of Nations was in 1938.

  7. So things have really slowed down to a drip…drop…drip. Do I have to start baiting you conservatives again or what?

    Oh well, here goes:

They are digging a goddamn moat around Baghdad, why don’t they just admit the war has ended in defeat and a monumental failure and let Iraq split into Kurdish, Sunni and Shiite states in a perpetual state of internecine war?

For God’s sake, they can’t even nail down Afghanistan, and that was supposed to be the practice run for the invasion of Iraq and points east.

  9. @pin,

all I knows is what I reads in the ‘papers. And when even the US Senate admits that there was no Iraq/Al-Qaida connection, I do start to wonder about all the other “confirmed evidence” we were offered.

It still find it ironic that there was no Ql-Qaida operating in Iraq until they moved into the power vacuum we created.

  10. Ralphieboy,
There is a mountain of recently translated documents ignored by the press, that show cooperation between AQ and Saddams govt. As for our own govt saying there was no connection? well the press just leaves out the details.
Conveniently, such news analyses ignore statements like this one from Thomas Kean, chairman of the 9/11 Commission. “There was no question in our minds that there was a relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda.” Hard to believe reporters just missed it—he made the comments at the press conference held to release the commission’s final report. And that report detailed several “friendly contacts” between Iraq and al Qaeda, and concluded only that there was no proof of Iraqi involvement in al Qaeda terrorist attacks against American interests.

  12. @pin,

if it were just the “liberal media” spinning the story, I would not think much of it. But as far as I know, the US Senate is still Republican-controlled.

Saddam and Al-Qaeda had only one connection: a common enemy. In every other repsect, they were polar opposites. And Saddam certainly did not want raving Shi’ite lunatic Islamic fundamentalists running amok in his country, blowing up civilians.

And I fear we can write off the Krautboys for a few weeks, the Oktoberfest just opened…Prost!!!

  13. This Krautboy dug up his roots last weekend and went to the Addison TX Oktoberfest. They serve the same Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier that they have in Munich, Schmeckt Gut!

You might be best keeping clear of Bavaria if Preiss is your surname: “Preiss” is the Bavarian pronounciation of “Prussian” and is used as a rather derisive term for all non-Bavarians.

So if you do make it there, adopt a pseudonym that blends in, like Kraxlhuber or Gschwandtner…

  15. Thats why I use it, my family is from Berlin, Pomerania (Pomern) and Silesia (Schlesien) there has always been a sometimes freindly rivalry between Bavarians and Prussians. My nic is from a bumper sticker my Bavarian Godfather had, it said “Preiss is nice but Bayer is higher”. Also have a saying hanging in my kitchen that goes “Keine feuer, keine kohl, brennt so heiss wie den lieb zwischen Bayer und Preiss”.
“No fire, no coal, burns so hot as the love between Bavarian and Prussian”
