I’m proud to be an American!
This morning I was in the best mood ever. What could be better than going to the courthouse to become an American citizen? Nothing, thank you very much! But there are always people who want to ruin your day. Take liberals, for example. I enter the courthouse checking the directory and the first thing I see is this:
Sometimes I forget that Harry Reid is my senator. You can’t really blame me for that because whenever you see him on TV it always seems like you’re watching a movie with Bruce Willis facing the planet’s most evil villain. How am I supposed to know that this guy is actually a real politician?
Anyway, the oath ceremony was just beautiful. Too long (two hours) as far as I’m concerned but beautiful. But the best part was afterwards, when Reid’s little helpers stopped me to register to vote. “Sure”, I said and registered as a Republican:
I felt so naughty!
Unfortunately my Little Rib has been really sick for the last couple of days and she wasn’t able to attend the ceremony. Nevertheless she caught a little of the atmosphere because our dear friend Mike came over tonight with a present. He had created a video which is too special to be kept from the public. Enjoy!

Gratuliere! Und herzlich willkommen! We’re a lucky country to have you, and we’re the better for it!

What was that seismic tremor just detected at the geophysical research site? It must’ve been the nation shifting a little bit further to the right…

“Long have I watched this one”, the GOP is strong with him. Hide you as a German we did, until time to fullfill your destiny as an American it was.
You’ll do well in the land of hybrid-vigor. I knew a French Canadian that even after his re-birth as an American still took three days for his testicles to drop.
Hit the ground running. “You maverick renegade”.

Thank you all for your kind words and support! It means a lot to me. (Bill Brown, I got your mail. Thank you!)
P.S. My Little Rib is doing much better now.

What took me almost 40 years to do, you did it in 10. But then I was always on my way home from Australia, didn’t find out how hostile Germany had gotten towards America.
On my first visit home after G.W. was elected President I found a lot of admiration towards Clinton, hostility towards Bush. That’s when I realized I had become an American a long time ago, the rest was only documentation.
And I still beat you to citizenship by 7 months.
Welcome to my America.

Thanks for reminding me how lucky I was to be born here. My older sister had to get her citizenship. If you feel homesick you can always visit the Texas hill country, In New Braunfels you can even see bumper stickers in German (Das Leben ist besser in Neu Braunfels) And the Cathedral in San Antonio still has German Mass once a week.

I found your site via PJM. I had to jot down my pride in your accomplishment! Congrats and WELCOME HOME!
FYI: knowing how the Dems work you may want to check to make sure they did not change your party registration.

Congratulations, Sir!
My grandmother came from a small town near Ingolstadt in 1928. She’s just recently emmigrated to an even “better country”, a Kingdom the say. But while she held nostalgic and pleasant memories of Bavaria, she love the United States of America with a passion; one that it helps to have known citizenship elsewhere to have.
Welcome, countryman.

I came here from GM’s corner. It’s really wonderful to hear from someone who appreciates being an American citizen, by choice. Those of us who are citizens by birth too often dispise our birthright. In the days to come, please show compassion towards our frailties. Your video left a lump in my throat. Thank you.
