Another Upside of American Superficiality

Americans love to be entertained. Well, who doesn’t? But in the US people are much more motivated to get the entertainment they want. Sometimes they encourage people to do things they would never have done otherwise.

Take Tom Daschle, for example. According to this rather vague article the former South Dakota Senator is allegedly toying with the idea to run for president. Why?

“I have received a lot of encouragement”

That’s why. And that’s what I would call fantastic entertainment!

Let’s make a deal. If Daschle becomes president in 2008 or in any other election in this millennium I promise to write a sequel to the Bible. I’ve been told I have the potential to do so …

  1. I am from South Dakota and I know Tom Daschle. He did not have a pot to piss in (an old western expression) until his wife became a shill for the airline industry. This was not of course his original wife, but a new “barbie” wife that was able (with his help) to clean up with favorable legislation (guess who helped) and buy Tom a 1.3 million dollar mansion in Washington DC. If he runs for president, he will be sure to avoid his homestate of South Dakota. He will not get a single vote here.

  2. Yeah, I guess it’s good to know that free airline tickets can’t guarantee you the presidency. And neither can free ketchup ;-)
